The story a piece of history that is loston the archives of time...

The house and the field are described in some ancient books preserved in the “Historical archive” of Cortona. The “Liretta of the Town and of the ecclesiastic properties” Chapter 71 (year 1777) contains the alphabetic list of the owners of buildings and fields in the district of Cortona and it shows also locations of the properties and the taxes connected to them. That book cross-refers to the land register of 1635 where at page 294 are described the properties of the above-mentioned Monastery. In there is written: “ To Fonte Comelia near the Palazzone, home and land of olive trees of 4 “staiora” (old unit of measure – 4 staiora it’s equal to about 7000,4 square meters )
Since then we lost all the traces about this place and the building disappeared, physically incorporated by the nature.

In the 2004 during a cleaning of the olive grove we found some evident traces of the house. After an accurate digging were found most of the foundations, the entrance door and the barn. So, we started the renovations with an accurate use of historical materials, following the typology of the houses of XVII centuries to let revive the house “Fonte Comelia” ready to welcoming you and let you savor an exclusive dive in the nature and in the history.
